Team Development - Truck Challenge

Improve on Time, Cost and Quality using existing resources whilst incorporating SMART (Specific, Measureable, Agreed, Realistic, Time-Based) objectives and drawing on each others distinctive capabilities and talents to deliver superior performance.

Outline

The truck challenge ‘session-within-a-box’ format that takes people through a role based exercise, requiring delegates to consider organisation, work processes, costs and customer requirements in order to generate organisational improvements to volumes, processes, quality and value.

Business Improvement and Innovation

Collaborative environments are breeding grounds for idea generation, development and commercialisation. Participations should leave the session energised to reconsider their own organisation roles and the effectiveness of their own processes in making it better, faster and cheaper, by improving efficiency and reducing costs.

How we can help in the BRP process

Metwou - Truck Challenge Within the context of BPR "Truck Challenge” an unseen exercise ‘within-a-box’ format that could be used in several ways

As an early stage catalyst session to familiarise team(s) with the BPR process as a precursor to either a functional or a corporate wide BPR project/roll-out

  1. From an alternative perspective the session could be simply used as a part of a team ‘away-day’ event to trigger reconsideration of the efficiency and effectiveness of the team’s current processes in meeting customer’s requirements (internal / external)

  2. The Truck Challenge could be employed as part of a recruitment selection day, as used as one of several session’s to form a wider judgement regarding a job applicants work styles and preferences.

BPR Goals

The key goal of BPR is to remodel the organisation’s workflow and supporting processes, in a logical manner, to remove superfluous activities that increase product and service cost, at the detriment of profits, customer satisfaction and speed of service delivery.

BPR benefits and Outcomes

  • The elimination of spurious processes, sub-processes, tasks and activities that add to the cost, but not to value or profit

  • Reduced process time, thereby unlocking both hard ‘physical’ and soft ‘people’ resources creating both value enhancements and competitive advantage

  • Reduction in overheads – as simplified process design can unlock resources and for example reduce plant, tooling, technology and accommodation costsEnhances resource planning – Driving leaner inventories, reduced lead times, faster speed to market
